By January 27, 2022Insurance

We interviewed one of our business owners, Jim, about his professional and personal life. We want to give you an inside look of just who you are working with when you choose to do business with Western Pacific Insurance. Here are some of the highlights from the interview:

How long have you been working for Western Pacific Insurance (WPI)?

“I started working for Western Pacific Insurance in 2016.”

What is the title of your job and what does it entail?

“My job title is the owner and I clean the sinks.”

What do you like most about working at WPI?

“Some of my favorite things about working here at Western Pacific Insurance is just that we have an awesome team here, just really cool people. I always believe in surrounding myself with great people and that’s what we have here. Also, one of the most fun things I get to do every day is hang out with my brother and business partner, Tom. We get to go out to lunch every day and it’s just a lot of good laughs… it’s a good time.”

What is the biggest lesson you have learned in your career so far?

“One of the biggest lessons that I’ve had so far in my career is that the insurance business is a business that builds over time and that you just have to have patience with it.”

Tell us a fun fact about yourself that people may not know.

“Something that people may not know about me is I do beekeeping. It’s kind of a different thing; there’s not a lot of beekeepers out there.”

What chore do you absolutely hate doing?

“I do beekeeping and bees fill these wooden frames with comb and honey. One time recently, one of these frames completely filled with honey. I’m trying to extract it from the hive because you have to inspect a beehive once a week. I go in to inspect and I’m trying to lift the frame out and the frame comes apart in the hive. It was just a mess of honey, and it was over 100 degrees. It’s just not very much fun when you have to do that type of stuff and you’re reassembling the frames, gluing them like I should have done in the beginning, and re-nailing it, while bees are all over it and there’s honey on your hands and there’s bees on your hands because they’re attracted to that honey. It’s just a mess!”

What is one food you cannot resist?

“A food that I am super fond of and can’t resist is really good chips and salsa. [I love] Chevy’s chips and salsa- if you have that in the room I’m going to be immediately attracted to it and I’m going to down it.”

What is a big pet peeve of yours?

“People talk about pet peeves, and I don’t really have a pet peeve. I guess when something really, really aggravates me that I see somebody doing I kind of wonder what’s wrong with myself and I have to think about that.”
